Short version
SurfX uses a small number of essential cookies and similar technologies to make the website and app work. We don't run advertising trackers, behavioural ad pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you. This page explains what we do use.
What we use on the website
Essential cookies
If you sign up to the launch list, we use a session cookie to handle the form submission. This is required for the site to function and is removed once you close your browser or after a short period.
Authentication cookies (Supabase)
If you sign in to a SurfX account on the web, our authentication provider Supabase sets a small number of cookies that keep you signed in. These are essential — without them, you'd be logged out on every page load.
What we don't use
We don't run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, advertising re-targeting, or third-party behavioural trackers on surfxapp.com. We may add anonymised analytics in the future; if we do, we'll update this page first.
What the app uses
The SurfX mobile app doesn't use browser cookies (it isn't a browser), but it does use similar technologies that store information on your device:
- Login session token — keeps you signed in between visits, the app equivalent of an authentication cookie.
- Push notification token — provided by Apple Push Notification Service or Firebase Cloud Messaging, used to deliver booking confirmations and venue alerts you opt into.
- Device identifiers — used to detect crashes and improve stability. We do not link these to advertising profiles.
You can clear app data from your device settings at any time, which removes these tokens.
Third parties
The third parties we use (Supabase, Twilio, Apple, Google) may store technical information necessary to deliver their service to us — for example, Supabase keeping you signed in, or Twilio routing an OTP. They do not place advertising trackers on our behalf. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of providers.
How to turn things off
You can clear or block cookies via your browser settings (see your browser's help page for instructions). On mobile, you can clear app data from your device settings. Disabling essential cookies may stop sign-in from working.
Updates
If we add new categories of cookies (for example, opt-in analytics), we'll update this page and ask for your consent where required. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the most recent change.
